The original. Fairway, Kansas — since 2019.
The one that started it all. In 2019 we took a small storefront on West 53rd Street and filled it with everything we missed about the mountains — wood-panelled walls, a buffalo watching over the room, vintage skis, and a bench held up by two bears at the door. It's the kind of room where you settle in rather than pass through.
Fairway is our most intimate space, and that's the whole point. There are tables for two along the wall, booths in the back when you've got a group, and a handful of nooks with outlets that regulars have quietly claimed as their own. Bob Ross is usually on the screen. There are board games if you want them.
Coffee in the morning, cocktails after
Same room, same bar, all day. Locally roasted coffee and espresso from open, pastries and breakfast through the morning, then a full bar into the evening — cocktails, draft beer, wine, and mocktails if you'd rather not. Our regulars have a name for the person who makes both: the baris-tender.
The patio
When the weather cooperates, the patio out front is the best seat we have. It's a good spot for watching Fairway go by, and dogs are welcome to join you.
Next door to Rainy Day Books
We share a block with one of Kansas City's best independent bookstores, and we keep a few of their titles on our shelves. Bring your receipt from Rainy Day Books and we'll take 10% off your order. Coffee and a new book is a defensible way to spend a Saturday.
What to order
The Ranger is our maple latte and the drink people come back for. The Bearsnack — raspberry mocha — has its own following. The cinnamon rolls tend to go early. Ask what's on the seasonal board; there's usually a rotating cereal milk latte that's better than it has any right to be.

One room, one bar, sixteen hours. Here's how it moves.
First pour
Doors open, espresso pulls, pastries land on the counter. Regulars drift to the nooks they've claimed.
The slow hours
Laptops and board games under the buffalo. Bob Ross is probably on. Nobody's in a hurry.
The switch
Same bar, different menu. The espresso machine shares the counter with cocktails, draft beer and wine.
Lights low
Nightcaps until 10 on weeknights, 11 on Friday and Saturday. Sundays wind down at 6.

Plenty of people do. There are seats with outlets, though the space is intimate and fills up at peak times. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon are your best bet for a table.
